Issue/Introduction
The Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client is in a remote location or otherwise disconnected from the production network and cannot communicate with Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM).
Environment
The following are the Symptoms where the below mentioned solution can be applied:
The SEP client is a managed by Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM)
The SEP client is not connected to SEPM to perform a direct policy update (off the production network or at a remote location)
The SEP client policy needs to be updated due to a critical policy change
Cause
Limited network connectivity between the clients current location and the production network where the SEPM resides
Resolution
Follow the steps mentioned below to update the policy on a SEP client which is away or disconnected from the network:
Go to the SEP client which already has the desired policy update
Click on Help and Support, then Troubleshooting
Click on Export under Policy Profile
Export the policy file in .XML format
Go to the offline SEP client which needs a policy update
Click on Help and Support, then Troubleshooting
Click on Import under Policy Profile
Import the policy file which was exported from an already updated SEP client before in .XML format
