Issue/Introduction

Unable to access OWA after installing components needed for Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange 6.0 on an Exchange 2007 server.

Symptoms
Unable to access Outlook Web access, even after stopping the Symantec Mail Security service.

In addition, you may see the following event in the application event log:

Event id: 1309
Event code: 3005
Process name: w3wp.exe
Exception information: Exception type: COMException
Exception message: No more threads can be created in the system. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700A4)
Stack trace: at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo)
at System.Management.ManagementEventWatcher.Start()at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa.Core.OwaRegistryKeys.RegisterSMIMERegistryChangeEvent()
at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa.Core.OwaRegistryKeys.Initialize()
at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa.Core.Globals.InitializeApplication()
at Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa.Core.Global.ExecuteApplicationStart(Object sender, EventArgs e)

 

Cause

This can occur if the latest rollup is not applied to Microsoft Exchange.

Resolution

Run an Exchange best practice analyzer report:

 

Insure the latest rollup has been installed for Exchange.
