Resolution

Basics

An Active Directory domain is required. The SEE Server(s), Manager Computer(s), and Client Computers must reside in the same Active Directory forest.

SEE Server(s)

The SEE Servers are used to host the initial SEE Server instances and optional replica instances. The initial SEE Server instance can be installed on a server computer configured either as a domain controller or as a member server; member server is recommended. Replica instances must be installed on member servers. Multiple distinct SEE Servers can exist within an Active Directory forest.

SEE Server Hardware Requirements:

Component TypeRequirement
ProcessorDual-core Xeon 3.0 GHz
RAM 2 GB
Free disk space 80 MB

SEE Server Software Requirements:

* You must install or upgrade to ADAM SP1 before upgrading to Windows Server 2003 SP2.
** Includes Windows Server 2003 R2.

Manager Computer(s)

While you can designate a single computer, such as the domain controller, to be the sole Manager Computer, this is not recommended.

Manager Computer Hardware Requirements:

Component TypeRequirement
Processor233 MHz
RAM 64 MB
Free disk space 75 MB

Manager Computer Software Requirements:

Client Computers

Basics
Fast user switching is not supported. The system BIOS must support extended INT 13h. SCSI devices that do not use INT 13h to access the hard disk are not supported. The NTFS and FAT32 formats are supported for the primary hard disk.

Warning: SEE Full Disk relies on the Master Boot Record (MBR). System restore tools that replace the MBR, such as IBM Rescue and Recover, can cause serious problems to Client Computers and are not compatible with SEE Full Disk.
Warning: SEE Full Disk relies on its client database files and cannot protect them before Windows has loaded. Boot-time defragmentation programs will scramble the client database files and prevent the computer from booting.

Single Sign-On (SSO)
The Single Sign-On feature will synchronize with Novell Client 4.91 Service Pack 3 (SP3).

Section 508
SEE Full Disk provides Section 508–compliant text-to-speech capability for its Windows user interface components when used with JAWS version 9.0.2152 or later.
