'PASSCHAR' Top Secret Control Option Not Working Under TSO

Issue/Introduction

The Top Secret Control Option 'PASSCHAR' is not working under TSO. When changing their password through the TSO signon panel with a password that contains a character in the PASSCHAR list receives the following error message:

IKJ56464I You have entered unacceptable characters in the highlighted field(s)

Environment

 

Resolution

The IKJ56464I error message is a TSO error message and not a Top Secret error message. TSO is restricting the use of the password character and not Top Secret. PASSCHAR will not override TSO password restrictions.
