Issue/Introduction

Upgrading scan engine 5.2.1 to 5.2.2 fails when IM manager is installed on the same server with error code 1722.

Symptoms
You will find an error in the application log with the following details

"Action InstallJLU, location: C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\{32BAA27F-675B-4140-A8B5-271F03E0BA6D}\, command: C:\PROGRA~1\Java\JRE15~1.0_1\bin\javaw.exe -classpath jlu.jar com.symantec.liveupdate.Installer -s"

Cause

Scan engine was installed before IM manager. Scan Engine 5.2 installs with Java Liveupdate version 3.0.27. IM manager install Java Liveupdate version 3.01.1. If you install Scan Engine first and then IM manager, the installations are both successfull however java liveupdate is upgrade to 3.01.1. If you then try to upgrade Scan Engine the above error will occur. Furthermore if you try to install scan engine after first installing IM manager the above error also occurs.

Resolution

A workaround to this situation is to simply uninstall Java Liveupdate and proceed with the installation or upgrade.
To permanently resolve this issue install Scan Engine on a separate server.
