Error: "Unable to install license file sent from console because it is invalid"

Issue/Introduction

An error message, "Unable to install license file sent from console because it is invalid," appears when trying to install a new license file. 

Cause

This happens if the <start_date> field inside the license file shows a future date when the license file is opened with notepad.  This can also happen if the <license signature> field is blank in the license file.

Resolution

• If the previous license is still there and it has not yet expired, install the previous license until the new license is valid.
• If the previous license is not there or it has expired, ask for a temporary license to use until the new license is valid.
• If the <license signature> value is blank, register the license again through the licensing portal.
