Issue/Introduction

The attachment variable in notifications is set to NONE when the attachment content is uuencoded. Also, the attachment list in the Message Audit Logs shows "None" in the "Full attachment list" field for messages with uuencoded attachments.

Resolution

This issue has been addressed in Symantec Messaging Gateway version 9.5.0. Releases prior to version 9.5.0 do not support notification variables on uuencoded message content.

Note: If you use the Microsoft Outlook 2007 e-mail client, make sure the "Encode attachments in UUENCODE format when sending a plain text message" checkbox is unchecked. To see this setting in Outlook 2007:

      • Click on "Tools" on the top of the Outlook client's Menu Bar
      • Select "Options" from the drop-down list
      • Click on the "Mail Format" tab
      • Click on the "Internet Format..." button under the "Message format" configuration section
      • Make sure the "Encode attachments in UUENCODE format when sending a plain text message" checkbox is unchecked (clear) under the "Plain text options" configuration section. If it is not unchecked, uncheck it and click "OK" on the "Internet Format" window and then on the "Options" window to save the setting change.
