Issue/Introduction

When attempting to Deploy changes in the Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (SMSMSE) console, the following error is received: "Unknown error c00ce183"
 

"Unknown error c00ce183"
 

Resolution

The issue is related to a corrupted settings file.
The resolution will be one of the options listed below. 


Restore from a clean backup:

  1. Open the SMSMSE console
  2. Select File > Import, to begin the import process
  3. Click Ok.  Navigate to the saved xml file and click Open.
  4. Click Deploy changes.


Restore to Factory Defaults:

  1. Open the SMSMSE console
  2. Navigate to Tasks > Manage Assets > Reset to factory defaults
  3. Click Deploy changes.

 

Restore to Factory Defaults Fails:

Download and import the one of the following policy files which resets the SMSMSE settings to a default state.

  1. Save one of the following attachments to the SMSMSE server.

  1. Open the SMSMSE console.
  2. Select File > Import.  Click Ok. Navigate to the xml file saved and click Open.
  3. Click Deploy changes.

 

Uninstall/Reinstall

 

If none of the above options are successful, uninstall the program, then re-install without restoring the old configuration.
