Issue/Introduction

PXE errors displayed are:

PXE-E32: TFTP open timeout

PXE-E74: No MAN_INFO

OS_INFO options found

Environment

DS 8.x

Cause

By default the firewall in Windows Server OS is blocking the ports 69 UDP (Altiris PXE MTFTP Server service) and 4011 UDP and possible 67 UDP  (Altiris PXE Server service)

Resolution

To resolve this issue you have the following three options:

  • Create an exception in the Windows Server OS firewall for the ports used by the two services only:
69 UDP (Altiris PXE MTFTP Server service)
4011 UDP (Altiris PXE Server service)
  • Create a general exception in the Windows Server OS firewall for the following two executables
         …\eXpress\Deployment Server\PXE\PXEMftp.exe
         …\eXpress\Deployment Server\PXE\PXEService.exe
  • Turn off the Windows firewall.
