Issue/Introduction

Upgraded from DS 6.8.x to DS 6.9 SP1.

When attempting to create a new Linux pre-boot OS environment I receive the error:

PXESET.INI is missing from bootwiz\platforms\linux\x86\templates.

Why?

Might also see this in WinPE:

Cause

PXESET.INI provides additional functionality within Deployment Solution 6.9 SP1.

This file is included within the updated BDCgpl_6.9.9020.frm that is included with DS 6.9 SP1.

Resolution

To resolve this issue you will need to download and install the latest Linux and FreeDOS pre-boot image .FRM file.

Use the Boot Disk Creator utility to install/update the OS.

Once installed use PXE Configuration Manager to Regenerate the automation boot images for each PXE Server.

Alternative Resolution #1
  1. Copy the pxeset.ini file from a working system into the .\bootwiz\platforms\(pre-boot OS)\x86\templates folder.

Alternative Resolution #2

  1. Open Notepad, copy and paste the following lines into a new file, and save the file as pxeset.ini in the .\bootwiz\platforms\(pre-boot OS)\x86\templates folder:

[PXE]
PXE_SERVER=**PXE_NAME**
PXE_IP=**PXE_IP**
PXE_BOOTPATH=**PXE_PATH**
PXE_OID=**PXE_ID**
PXE_RID=**PXE_RID**
