Issue/Introduction

Extended Write Filter (EWF) cannot be re-enabled on deployed Windows XPe images.

Cause

This issue occurs if the source system used to capture the image is a Dell factory image. The Dell factory image contains certain partitions that are required for displaying the Dell EULA agreement. On a redeploy of this image, as the customer has accepted the EULA, these partitions are not retained. This change in partition layout causes EWF to fail.

Resolution

To reconfigure EWF, follow the instructions in the attached .zip file. The zip file contains:
  1. Sample job file that allows the administer to reconfigure EWF using a Deployment Solution sample job.
  2. Instructions on how to use the job (readme.txt).

Applies To
Deployment Solution 6.9 SP1
