Issue/Introduction

During the installation of Cisco VPN Client on a Windows* Vista computer, I get the following error when is trying to install Cisco Systems Virtual Adapter:

Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Cause

It appears that there is a conflict between the drivers (FSLX.SYS and Cisco Virtual Adapter) when there are Active layers; for some reason, the installation process of Cisco VPN tries to go into the redirect(C:\FSLRDR\layernumber\SID\[B]TEMP[E]) of Software Virtualization Solution to do the installation.

Resolution

This issues is addressed in Software Virtualization Solution 2.1.3071.  See Knowledgebase article 46118 for details.
