Issue/Introduction

Error, "Fatal Error installation ended prematurely because of an error during installation of SVS 2.1 .MSI file." However, there are no problems doing the install of Software Virtualization Solution 2.1 .exe file.

Cause

The issue is that the Log On Administrator Account that gets created during the Windows Vista install doesn't have full Administrator rights. The full Administrator account on Vista is disabled and hidden.

Resolution

There are a few ways to install SVS Agent and SVS Admin tool on a Windows Vista computer.

• Right-click on the Software Virtualization Solution .exe install file, choose option to Run as Administrator, and follow the prompts.
• Right-click on Windows Command Prompt and choose option Run as Administrator, then browse or go to the location of Software Virtualization Solution .msi file and launch the installation and follow the prompts.
• Use either Deployment Solution or Notification Server to run the installation in quiet mode through Notification Server Agent or Deployment Solution DAgent and that process is explained on SVS User Guide.
• Other option will be to dissable UAC completely from the Windows Vista computer and then launch the installation of Software Virtualization Solution by double-clicking the .msi file.
