Why does the error message, "Error Number: -2147467259" appear when attempting to access a Web site?

The following error occurs when users access the Wise Web site or other sites:

This error is also seen when Altiris Agents attempt to access the Notification Server.  This can also appear as the following error:

 

Description: RequestPolicies failed: Unknown error (-2147467259)

Cause

Cookies are not enabled for the user's browser settings.

Resolution

This problem is easily solved by enabling either non-persistent or session level cookies from the browser's security settings. This setting varies from browser to browser, but for Internet Explorer*, it is found under the Tools > Internet Options. On the Internet Options dialog select the Security tab. Set the Internet security level to "low" to avoid the error.

If setting the Internet security level to low is not acceptable due to security concerns, go to Custom Settings to edit this option specifically. Using Internet Explorer 6, the option for accepting cookies is called Userdata persistence. This option must be enabled to avoid the error.
