Issue/Introduction

When installing the Microsoft Credential Provider Plug-in there is a window in the wizard that asks to browse to the configuration file. When clicking "Browse" nothing happens and installation cannot continue.

No error messages are shown, however the explorer window does not open to browse to the file so installation cannot continue.

Cause

This issue can occur if the required Visual C++ components are not installed. Please note the following requirements for Microsoft Credential Provder

For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008:

• Visual C++ 2010 SP1 x86 Redistributable (for 32-bit operating system)
• Visual C++ 2010 SP1 x64 Redistributable (for 64-bit operating system)

For Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2:

• Visual C++ 2012 x86 Update 4 Redistributable (for 32-bit operating system)
• Visual C++ 2012 x64 Update 4 Redistributable (for 64-bit operating system)

Resolution

Please download and install the applicable version of Visual C++ from the Microsoft website using the links below:

Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)
