Issue/Introduction

Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP)

The installation of a Maintenance Pack  fails with two Oracle errors.

ORA-00942
ORA-01031

Cause

The customer used an Oracle role to grant permissions for the DLP service account, which works for initial install but not for DLP upgrade scripts.
The DLP upgrade scripts use Oracle stored procedures that create Oracle tables or views and it is known Oracle permission issue.

Resolution

You have to grant permissions directly to the user, not through a role.
Once the user is directly granted create table, view, procedure..etc, the MP upgrade scripts work.
