Issue/Introduction

The Symantec Endpoint Protection's (SEPM) catalina.err file starts to use up excessive disk space, almost immediately after SEPM service start-up.

Review of the catalina.err file shows the following SEVERE message repeatedly:

SEVERE: getIPAddressLiteral: can not convert given byte array to IP address literal : [null] in hexString (Is it 4 or 16 bytes data ?)

Environment

14.2.4814.1101

Cause

SEP Manager external logging will include Mac IP addresses if "scm.syslog.agentinfo=ON" is configured. If a Mac client isn't configured with 4 IP addresses, the SEP Manager will log the error message.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.2 RU2 MP1. For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, see Download the latest version of Symantec software here.
