Issue/Introduction

Installed and upgraded the Wise Package Studio application on the new server (data has been successfully imported from the old server) and the following message occurs when attempting to install the Wise Client (Network or Local):


'Before you can use this product, you must configure or upgrade the Wise Software Repository.  This must be done in the Wise Repository Manager on the Wise Package Studio server.  If necessary, contact your Wise administrator for assistance.'

The Wise Server is installed correctly and can be launched without any issue.

The Wise Software Repository shows that all Databases have been upgraded successfully and shows no errors.

Resolution

The cause of this is most likely that the users do not have the correct SQL Permissions to install and run the Wise Client.

Make sure that the users who are installing the Wise Client have DBO Permissions. At bare minimum they need Read/Write permissions and Execute all stored procedures for the Workbench Database, Wise Services Database, and Software Manager Database in SQL.
