Issue/Introduction

On Windows 10 1903, trying to rename a file or folder in an Encrypted File Share fails with an "Invalid device" message

Environment

Windows 10 1903

Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.4.2

Cause

It appears that changes to Microsoft Windows 10, version 1903, alter how Symantec File Share Encryption can access files.

Resolution

This is fixed in Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.4.2 MP4.

This issue does not occur on previous versions of Windows, including Windows 10 1809 and previous releases.  The Encrypted Share can be accessed from this version without issue.

As a workaround, if the Encryption Desktop client/PGPTray is closed, the Fileshare folder can be renamed outside of encryption.  However, the encrypted contents cannot be unlocked until PGPtray is restarted.
