Issue/Introduction

If we do not want symantec to use the location services on the phone, what impact will that make?

Will we lose any protection that Symantec provides through location services if we disable the services?

Environment

• iOS
• Android

Cause

Enabling location services allows advanced security capabilities and ensures the optimal operation of SEP Mobile in the background (Note: this doesn't affect whether location data is sent to the server)

Resolution

Disabling location services for SEP Mobile will have the following impact

1. SEP Mobile will no longer be able to display a list of nearby suspicious networks
2. Location information will not be able to be used as part of security incident forensics
3. SEP Mobile may not run properly in the background. The OS may shut off SEP Mobile in the background if the app has not been opened.
