Endpoint Threat Defense for Active Directory

Issue/Introduction

When executing SETDAD-Installer_3.3.1.0 Integrated.exe to install Symantec Endpoint Threat Defense for Active Directory (SETDAD) the UI fails to open.

Cause

Prior installation data present in %temp%, and/or installer is in a blocked state.

Resolution

Before you begin this procedure, back up the Windows registry. See How to back up and restore the registry in Windows (Microsoft).

  1. Clean %temp% of files related to Javelin and/or SETDAD
e.g.: Remove folders like JavelinCore, and JavelinUI, or files like SETDAD_install.txt
  2. Kill the process(SETDAD-Installer_3.3.1.0 Integrated.exe) in the task manager
  3. Delete registry entries related to Javelin/SETDAD under:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Javelin
  4. If visible, check the Unblock checkbox under the general tab of the installer exe in right-click, properties
  5. Double-click the installer again
