Issue/Introduction

You have configured an Application and Device Control policy to log transfers to removable storage.  When viewing the control.log through the Symantec Endpoint Protection clients GUI user interface, the file names using Unicode characters, have those characters displayed as question marks.  When viewing the log files on the clients local file system or the log files forwarded to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) the file names are displayed correctly with the correct Unicode characters.

When viewing the control.log through the SEP client's GUI user interface, Unicode file names are displayed incorrectly with the Unicode characters replaced with question marks

For example:     這是測試.txt is displayed as ????.txt

Cause

SMCGui.exe that displays the client Control Log does not support displaying Unicode characters

Resolution

This is working as currently designed.
