Issue/Introduction

Some of the agents fail to register with Task server.

Agent log :

  1. Failed to call web interface by url [http://test.symc.com.sg:80/Altiris/ClientTaskServer/Register.aspx?lastResort=true&resTypeGuid={493435F7-3B17-4C4C-B07F-C23E7AB7781F}&sysType=Win64&version=8.5.4249&resourceGuid=5d8e9da1-7aed-430f-bba4-f8133d37fac8&crc=0008000500001099], error [0x8004200C, IDispatch error #7692].
  2. Could not register using "http://test.symc.com.sg:80/Altiris/ClientTaskServer/Register.aspx"

SMP server log:

There are too many policies with the Task Server global setting targeted to the Task Servers:
 Task Server 7ded5a34-d124-496e-900b-835865131704 policies:
     '[Site Server] Task Service Settings' (4daf7ace-0276-45ca-bda4-b86d89ab405e);
     '[test] Task Service Settings' (04ff5aae-c1a3-44d0-be38-f5d6d08d00a4);
The Task Server should have only one policy with the Task Server global settings targeted to it. Please review computers assignment for the Task Server Settings policies in location: Site Management -> Site Server Settings -> Task Service ->Settings

Cause

More than one policy is enabled under Site Management -> Site Server Settings -> Task Service ->Settings

Resolution

Keep only one policy enabled under Site Management -> Site Server Settings -> Task Service ->Settings
