Get Out-of-Band inventory task fails with:

Failure: Generic error (Error -1)

Cause

This error indicates that the supported protocols for the Gather Out-of-Band Inventory Task are not enabled in the connection profile.

Resolution

For this task to successfully gather inventory, one of the following protocols needs to be enabled in the connection profile and be properly configured:

• AMT
• ASF
• DASH
• IPMI

The connection profile is configured at the following location: Browse in the Symantec Management Console under Settings > All Settings > Monitoring and Alerting > Protocol Management > Connetion Profiles > and select Manage connection profiles. Create or modify an existing profile to contain the authentication for the supported protocols.
