When I sign up for a Protection Engine trial, I receive a license for a previous version

Protection Engine for Cloud Services Protection Engine for NAS

Issue/Introduction

You signed up for a trial of the most recent version of Symantec Protection Engine (SPE) and received a license file that has text indicating it is for a previous version. For example, you signed up for SPE 8.1 and your license file has the following text when opened with a text editor:

Symantec Protection Engine for NAS 8.0 30 Day Trialware

 

 

Resolution

The license is still valid with the current version of SPE.
Install it as you normally would.
After installing the license, you can verify that it is active and valid by checking the report.xml in the installation directory (Default Windows: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Scan Engine | Default Linux: /opt/SYMCScan/bin).
At the bottom, you should see the license information.
If the license is valid, you should see output like the following (if the license is invalid, the status would be No-Valid-License):
