Issue/Introduction

  • When running Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.2 RU1 with App Isolation, App Control, and Vulnerability Remediation service (VR) enabled, remediation periodically fails.
  • The issue is seen when Windows security updates are removed. During the assessment scan, VR identifies the removed security update as a newly discovered vulnerability.
  • When remediating the vulnerability from the Security Cloud Console, remediation fails.

  • Windows 10 RS4 x86

  • SEP 14.2 RU1

Cause

  • Microsoft Update

Resolution

Symantec is currently investigating the issue.

As a workaround, check to see if Windows is installing the security updates successfully. If not, install the update manually to see if it resolves the issue. If the update doesn’t install, it could potentially be an issue with Windows.
