Virus Definitions fail to update after upgrading to Messaging Gateway 10.7.0

Issue/Introduction

A proxy is being used and after updating to Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) 10.7.0, virus definitions are no longer updating.

Cause

The proxy configuration in Administration -> Hosts -> Configuration -> <HOSTNAME> -> Proxy is not being used by LiveUpdate.

Resolution

This issue was resolved in SMG 10.7.1.  Symantec recommends upgrading to SMG 10.7.1 as soon as possible.  Should an upgrade not be possible, please use the steps below to work around the issue.

 

  1. Open the SMG's Graphical User Interface (GUI)
  2. Navigate to Malware -> Settings -> Email Scan Settings -> LiveUpdate
  3. Select ""
  4. Enter http://127.0.0.1 as the LAN Host -> Address (Note:  This will act as a place holder and will not be active for this solution)
  5. Check the "
  6. Click "Save"
  7. To push the change to all of the scanners, make a configuration change on any other page
