Property fields for Endpoint Protection client in Manager console are blank

Issue/Introduction

When viewing properties of a SEP (Symantec Endpoint Protection) client in the SEPM (SEP Manager), various property fields are blank.

"[WARN ] Unable to parse XML stream" in SEP client's cve.log

Environment

SEP 14.2 for Windows

Cause

This may be caused by an error parsing special characters in the SEP client's Windows computer description. The computer's description and other client property fields will display blank in SEPM. This was found to occur in SEP 14.2; versions 14.0.x and older are not affected.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in SEP 14.2 RU1 MP1 release.

Workaround on 14.2: Delete or replace SEP client's Windows computer description, so that it does not use special characters.
