Issue/Introduction

You would like to know how to monitor the fail over status of the ProxySG or ASG appliance.

You would like to know what OID to use for the SNMP trap.

Resolution

By default failover notifications are enabled on event logging and it can be changed using the below command via CLI:

#(config)alert notification failover ?

The fail over monitoring can be done via the following methods:

  1. Email notification
If you choose to receive email alerts, SG must have correct SMTP gateway and email address configured on the mail settings (Maintenance > Event Logging > Mail).
  2. Event logging
  3. SNMP trap (OID is .1.3.6.1.4.1.3417.2.13.1.1.1) .
If you choose trap (SG send notification alters when a fail over status changes) (trap OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.3417.2.13.2.0.1), there must be a receiver IP and port and community string set under maintenance --> SNMP --> snmpvv1-v2c Traps.
