Issue/Introduction

Why is the GSS web console not showing images that are not stored in the default images folder?

Environment

Ghost Solution Suite 3.3 Web Console

Cause

Ghost images stored in the default images folder will be indexed and included in the images listed in the web console. If the ghost images are stored in a location other than the default location they won't be included in the images index used by the web console.

Resolution

Storing your Ghost images in the default Images folder in the express share and they will be included in the image list used by the Web Console this is how it was designed, and images not included in the images folder won't be listed in webconsole.

If for some reason images are unable to be stored in the images folder, Microsoft has provided a way that a shortcut can be put in place that will redirect a folder to a different location. The Microsoft tool "MKLINK" is the tool that Microsoft has provided for windows users to make these links.

The following kb has some more information on how to use the MKLINK tool to redirect the entire images folder to a different drive that would hold the ghost images. Be aware that the use of the MKLINK tool could add complications to a windows environment and for further questions on it's use or performance please contact Microsoft to assist with it's use. Here is a link to use MKLink within the GSS environment:
