Messaging Gateway does not pass the grub bootloader after upgrade to 10.7.0

Issue/Introduction

Upgrade has been performed but after reboots it does not proceed past grub bootloader.

Cause

Older versions of SMG did not lay out the disk partitions in a way that can accommodate the upgrade to 10.7.x. New installations of version 10.6.6 and later will be able to upgrade to 10.7.x without experiencing this issue.

Resolution

This is an unrecoverable failure in the software update process and the system will need to be reinstalled and the latest backup restored.

1. Reinstall / osrestore  version 10.6.6 from ISO
2. Bootstrap the system with the network configuration
3. Delete the existing host record from the control center Administration > Configuration page
4. Use the Add Scanner wizard to add and license the system
