Bug Check 0x9E may take place when Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) scans specific file. The bug check has a value of 0x0000009E. This bug check indicates that one or more critical user-mode components failed to satisfy a health check.

Cause

There's an issue where the AutoProtect causes a deadlock when scanning specific file. There are two threads that are waiting on resources that the other thread owns. The deadlock causes all the scan threads to be blocked, so the health monitoring was triggered because various threads didn't respond in a timely manner.

Resolution
