Issue/Introduction

How can you find out the Server Type (Background, Standby, Application server), host name and other details?

Environment

CA Service Desk Manager 14.1 and 17.x

Resolution

These steps apply to either the Advanced Availability or Conventional Configuration installations.

To find out the Server Type and corresponding host name, perform the following steps:

  1. Login to Service Desk with Administrator rights

  2. Click on the Administration tab.

  3. Expand the System menu and click on Servers.

In the Server List page, the available server and types will be listed. See screenshot below:

Alternatively, you may query the usp_servers and server_types MDB tables to find this information.  In an Advanced Availability architecture, the current Background server should be "2" and the Standby should be "3".
