Data Loss Prevention Endpoint Prevent

Need to install the Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) agent in a macOS endpoint computer.
Macintosh endpoint single manual install or SMS install for many Macintosh endpoints.

Single Mac Installation:

  1. Download the file from the My Downloads page on the Broadcom Support  page.
  2. Locate the agent installation package (, and unzip it on the Mac endpoint workstation in a temporary folder.
  3. Install the Mac Agent using Terminal (located in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder)
    • Change to the directory /temp/AgentInstaller_Mac64 (where temp is the folder you temporarily downloaded)
    • Type: sudo installer -pkg AgentInstall_15_8.pkg -target /
    • If not using versions 15.8, then use the name of the Mac agent version you have.
    • For the password put the Mac Administrator password not the Tools password.

Verify the Mac agent installation:

Open the Activity Monitor application (also in Utilities folder) and search for the edpa process. It should be up and running. The Activity Monitor displays processes running under the logged on user. The edpa process runs as root. Go to View in the activity monitor window and select  "All Processes” to view edpa if you are not logged on as root user.

You can also confirm that agent was installed to the default directory: /Library/Manufacturer/Endpoint Agent

Multiple Macs Installation with SMS or MDM applications:

  1. Use an application with root access.
  2. Make sure to use the file: AgentInstall_15_8.pkg
  3. Specify a list or range of network addresses where you want to install the DLP Agent.
  4. Start the silent installation process.
