Issue/Introduction

Description:

You started the installation of CA Common Services r14.1 S1401 and you have a question about the maintenance.

Within RO66915 (aggregate maintenance from 01JUL2013 to 31DEC2013) you find the following PTF's listed:

CAS9E10 RO64952 NEW MSM/CSM DEPLOYMENT XML TO SUPPORT CETN600
CAW1E10 RO63405 INVALID ENF COMMAND/NO JOBTERM AFTER IPL
CAW4E10 RO60306 UNEXPECTED CCI LU0 LINE BREAKS
CAW4E10 RO63046 CCIPC APP RECEIVES CCICONV FAILURE: CCI0053 WSAEWOULDBLOCK
CAW4E10 RO63570 S013/S0C4 ABEND IN CASNMNET ON CCI(RECYCLE
CEI0E10 RO64367 ADD ZBC12 TO THE CAMASTER PROCESSOR TABLE
CETN500 RO63076 MOUNT R/W ZFS WITH AGGRGROW OPTION

It seems that these patches are not included with CCS r14.1 S1401 and you are wondering if it is normal.

Should you install these PTFs in CCS r14.1 S1401 level ?

Environment

Release: CA90SV00200-14.1-Common Services-for z/OS
Component:

Resolution

Solution:

In fact, it is normal that you did not find these PTFs inside CCS r14.1 S1401.

This is because the level S1401 is based off CARS1401 and this CA RS level does not include PTFs as current as DEC 2013 (RO64952).

This CA RS level essentially incorporates all PTFs published up through Sept 30, 2013 plus any HYPERS through Dec 31,2014

So yes, you should install these ptf's in CCS r14.1 S1401 level if they are applicable in your environment.

NOTE: Starting with CARS1404, CA RS levels are Monthly to provide greater granularity sooner. What this means for example is that CARS1408 will contain PTFs, HYPERs, and PRPs published in JULY 2014

Refer to CA Recommended Service for z/OS page.
