Endpoint Protection

Issue/Introduction

You wish to migrate from a third-party endpoint protection solution to Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP). Towards that end, you created a client installation package in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) and enabled the Automatically uninstall existing third-party security software option in the Client Install Settings for the package. After you install the package, you notice that, while the third-party security software has been successfully uninstalled, the same is true for other, non-security software.

Environment

  • SEPM 14.2 (MP1)

Cause

An issue with the third-party component responsible for the uninstallation of existing third-party security software resulted in the unwanted removal of non-security software.

This is fixed in SEP 14.2 RU1 (14.2.3332)
