Issue/Introduction

After a successful installation of the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client using an install package that packages the CleanWipe utility, a scheduled task called "Symantec CleanWipe" is still present on the client computer.

Cause

The Symantec CleanWipe scheduled task is used by the SEP client installation package to initiate the CleanWipe service. After CleanWipe runs, the CleanWipe service is removed, and the Symantec CleanWipe scheduled task should be removed. In this scenario, the service is removed, but the scheduled task is not.

Resolution

The Symantec CleanWipe scheduled task can safely be deleted

Note: Since the CleanWipe service is deleted after the CleanWipe process completes, the Symantec CleanWipe scheduled task has no effect if left in place.
