Information Centric Analytics Data Loss Prevention Core Package

Issue/Introduction

Under some circumstances, it's necessary to update the server name used by the Active Directory (AD) import utility. For example, the Information Centric Analytics (ICA) AD connector logs show ICA is attempting to pull AD data from a domain controller that is no longer in use; or you plan to migrate your AD domain controller (DC) to a new server.

Resolution

Update the Server table in the ActiveDirectoryDW database by following this procedure:

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  2. Connect to the Database Engine hosting the ActiveDirectoryDW database
  3. From the File menu, select New > Query with Current Connection
  4. Copy the following statement and paste it into the new query editor window:

    USE ActiveDirectoryDW;
    GO
    SELECT *
    INTO <Backup Table Name>
    FROM [Server]
    ;

  5. Execute the statement to create a backup of the existing Server table by pressing the F5 key, selecting Execute from the SQL Editor toolbar, or selecting Execute from the Query menu
  6. From the File menu, select New > Query with Current Connection
  7. Copy the following query and paste it into the new query editor window:

    USE ActiveDirectoryDW;
    GO
    UPDATE [Server]
    SET ServerName = '<correct FQDN of DC>'
    WHERE ServerID = <ID of Incorrect DC entry>
    ;
  8. Execute the statement to update the Server table by pressing the F5 key, selecting Execute from the SQL Editor toolbar, or selecting Execute from the Query menu
