Issue/Introduction

Create a policy to control application actions in the Cloud SWG portal

Environment

You use any Cloud SWG access method and Cloud SWG portal policy source. This method does not take into account for UPE (Universal Policy Enforcement) 

Resolution

NOTE: Not all actions are supported for every application! Please check under the https://sitereview.symantec.com/#/application-operations if application supports the desired Action control.

1. In the Cloud SWG portal, navigate to Policy > Content Filtering 
2. You can choose to edit an existing rule or Add Rule.
3. To set up, Application control uses the Destination and Content and Limits section at a minimum but you can add other fields too.
4. In the Destination, section click on Add Destinations.
5. Choose Web Application and choose the application from the list on the left pane. The list is quite large so you can use the search bar to find the application you want.
6. After you have found the desired application click on the ">" button and then hit Save.
7. The next Step is to click on Content and Limits and click on Actions.
8. Once again search to locate the action you require for the rule.
   • Note that some actions are marked with an A, which means that the placement of the rule is considered. See Differences between group A and B in the content filtering policy.
9. Once you have selected the action use the ">" to move it to the pane on right and hit Save.
10. Finally, click on Save Rule and Activate to install the policy.
