ICT Causing Microsoft Office to Freeze When Opened

Issue/Introduction

Microsoft is freezing when opened, with ICT (Information Centric Tagging) installed on the endpoint agent.

Cause

MS Office Add-Ins

Resolution

1. Confirm ICT is installed and running
2. Open an Administrator Command Prompt
3. Change to the Office Installation Directory. example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\
4. Run the following in cmd:

• EXCEL.exe /safe

After running the command, Excel (or any other Office product) will launch in safe mode without add-ins. If the Office product opens with no issue, there is a conflict with an Add-In. 

Disable all add-ins and test by enabling one at a time.
