Issue/Introduction

Altiris services won't start.

The Symantec Management Console will not open.

 

Cause

The "CoreSettings.config" file is corrupt or missing from C:\programdata\symantec\smp\settings.

Environment

Windows Server 2012 R2

IT Management Suite 8.0

 

Resolution

  1. Go to C:\programdata\symantec\smp\settings
  2. Locate the "CoreSettings.config.backup" file and copy it as "CoreSettings.config" to the C:\programdata\symantec\smp\settings 
  3. Restart the server.
