Object reference not set to an instance of an object when clicking on any Data class in the settings views

This is caused by the Resource Management component not being upgraded to the same version as the rest of ITMS.


To resolve the issue, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Notification Server as the Application Identity.
  2. Launch an Administrator command line.
  3. Browse to F:\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris\.
  4. Run the following command:
    msiexec /i altiris_resourcemgmt_8_5_x64.msi SKIPAIM=1
  5. Normally that should also run the configuration when it is complete. However if it ends up skipping that part, you can continue on with these steps (you'll know by the issue still occurring).
  6. In the command window, browse to F:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin\.
  7. Run the following command:
    AeXConfig /configure "F:\Program Files\Altiris\Resource\ResourceMgmt.config"
  8. If you want to, watch the server logs and filter on AeXConfig to watch the configuration take place.
  9. That's it. Once it is done, check against the issue.
