Issue/Introduction

An enhancement is made to the PDF encryption functionality to provide customers with additional flexibility on how mail attachments are encrypted.

Resolution

An enhancement is made to the PDF encryption functionality to provide customers with additional flexibility on how mail attachments are encrypted. Customers attachments will now be encrypted in their native file formats (for PDF, ZIP and MS Office XML attachments) instead of having them embedded in a single encrypted PDF.  Secure PDF “full-message” encryption can separate the attachments from the main message body ([Encrypted]message.pdf)

• PDF attachments encrypted as native PDF
• ZIP attachments encrypted as native ZIP
• Microsoft Office Documents (modern XML-style DOCX,XLSX,PPTX) encrypted as native Office format

All other attachments placed inside a single Secure PDF

End User Experience:

Encryption on the attachments persists when they are saved to disk. User must enter their password each time when opening attachments. If they wish to share the unencrypted attachments the password must also be shared or user must decrypt before sharing the attachment.
