Issue/Introduction

Microsoft product license verification error when starting any Office 2010 application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

The error occurs when Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) is installed.

For example:

"Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 cannot verify the license for this product. You should repair the Office program by using Control Panel."

Environment

• SEP 14.x
• Microsoft Office 2010

Cause

This issue is related to the Application Control (AC) component of SEP. 

Resolution

This issue was fixed with new Application Control Definitions, Sequence number: 190213022 (2/13/19 r.22) and newer.
