Symantec Management Agent service fails to start. We get the following Windows Services error message, "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

Issue/Introduction

When we try to start the Symantec Management Agent service, we get the following Windows Services error message, "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

"Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

Environment

Windows Server 2012 R2

Cause

By looking at the dependencies of the Symantec Management Agent, we found the Microsoft Network Location Awareness service is needed in order to start the Symantec Management Agent.

We checked in Services and found that the Microsoft Network Location Awareness service was not started.

Resolution

Start the Microsoft Network Location Awareness service.
