The customer is trying to upgrade (also possible when installing), but when he tries to start the Symantec Management Agent service he gets the following message:
The Symantec Management Agent service failed to start.
When looking at the services, the Symantec Management Agent service is not present.
After reviewing the agent installation logs (under C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Agent\InstallLogs), we can see that the agent tried to install but it failed with the following messages:
2018-10-02 13:10:11 P:1044 T:4232 *ERRR Installer: Action CopyFile: Operation on copy file from C:\Windows\TEMP\AeX_{43BC923E-
2018-10-02 13:10:11 P:1044 T:4232 *ERRR CoreUtil: Upgrade failed. Error message: Failed to run action: InstallCoreAgentExe
While trying to copy the AeXNSAgent.exe into E:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent we get a windows message saying:
Error Copying File or Folder
There is insufficient disk space to complete operation.
When we looked at the actual E:\ drive, it says that it has at least 50Gb in space.
On the Agent install logs:
*ERRR Installer: Action CopyFile: Operation on copy file from C:\Windows\TEMP\AeX_{43BC923E-
Windows message while trying to copy a file into the desired directory:
Error Copying File or Folder
There is insufficient disk space to complete operation.
ITMS 8.1 and later
This is a Windows issue. There are multiple websites that talk about this:
Error Copying File or Folder
There is insufficient disk space to complete operation.
The customer worked with his Servers team to address the issue.
A possible workaround is to uninstall the Symantec Management Agent (if already there) and try installing it on a different drive.
