Steps to access GAL on RightsWATCH for mobile

This article explains how to access Global Address List (GAL) in both iOS and Android.

Accessing the GAL on Android is not possible by default. There is no standard implementation for this. The following explains how to access:

1. Open the RightsWATCH Android app
2. Click the new email button (+)
3. In the To / Cc / Bcc you can add contacts from the GAL by clicking the small magnifier in the right

       

iOS

Accessing the GAL is done through the standard implementation of iOS. Same steps as the native email client:

1. Open the RightsWATCH iOS
2. Click the new email button
3. In the To / Cc / Bcc you can add contacts from the GAL by clicking the plus sign in the right (+)
4. Inside you can click the groups link and search for the contacts you want

You may face some differences from the contacts displayed from the native email app vs RightsWATCH app. This is related to the caching mechanism that is independent - RightsWATCH does not have access to the native email client cache and does not implement any caching mechanism (iOS and Android).

On iOS, you will see this difference as the contacts from the local contact store will appear with a home tag, in the native email client, while the cache contacts will appear normally, without any tag. The contacts with the home tag are the ones being displayed in the RightsWATCH app:
