Messaging Gateway

Issue/Introduction

The time of Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG) based in Brazil and set to use NTP servers would be not correct from the 21st of October until the 4th of November.

Cause

Brazil Daylight Saving Time start date has changed from 21st October to 4th November.

The Brazillian President has changed the Daylight Saving Time (DST) start date. New date is the 4th of November instead of the 21st of October. The change applies starting in 2018.

Brazil will start Daylight Saving Time (DST) later than normal. Clocks will be turned back one hour from 12:00 (midnight) to 11:00 (11 pm) local time on Sunday, November 4, 2018.

Resolution

Set the SMG time manually. After the 4th of November the SMG time can be configured to use NTP servers again.

You must have Full Administration rights or Manage Settings modify rights to configure time settings.

To Set time manually in Control Center and Scanners time setting:

  1. In the Control Center, go to (Administration -> Configuration)
  2. Check the name of the host whose time you want to modify and click Edit.
  3. On the Edit Host Configuration page, click the DNS/Time tab.
  4. Click Set time manually.
  5. Configure the Date and the Time.
  6. Click Apply above settings to all hosts to apply your changes to all hosts.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Restart the Control Center and Scanners for the time changes to take effect.
