Error "An unknown error occurred while synching"

Issue/Introduction

When trying to add new roles in the Information Centric Tagging (ICT), can create new roles successfully but if tried to Synch new roles it's failing with an error "An unknown error occurred while synching. Please check the error logs for further information.  At the same time can create new classification & able to synch them successfully. Also able to create new rules successfully.

Problem occurs only when synching new roles.

 

 

Environment

• Windows Server 2016
• SQL 2014
• ICT 15.1

Cause

• Enabled debug mode in the IIS, as per the logs there was an AD authentication error.
• Service account permission are missing on AD organisation unit (OU) created for ICT. 

Resolution

• Provide delegated control of OU to service account. Service account used for ICT installation and configuration. 
• Right click OU, Select 'delegate control' & add service account & provide the following common tasks.
  • Read all user information.
  • Create, delete and manage groups
  • Modify the membership of a group
