Unable to import PAC file in the Web Security Service portal

Issue/Introduction

Importing a PAC file in the Web Security Service (WSS) portal results in an error: "An unknown server error has occurred".

Cause

The PAC File Management System (PFMS) will only support PAC files up to 256 KB. Importing a larger file size will result in an error.

Resolution

You must edit your PAC file to be under 256 KB in size. You can use the PFMS editor to create your own PAC files and view the current size of the file. To get to the editor, follow the steps below:

1. In the WSS portal, navigate to Service -> Mobility -> PAC File Management
2. Click on New File
   
3. You can either copy/paste your PAC file content into the editor or create one from scratch.
4. In the top-right corner of the editor, you'll see the current size of your PAC file.
